As part of the practical curriculum for the Discipline Specific Course under the B.Sc. Industrial Fisheries Four Year Undergraduate Programme, the Research Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (RDFA-SF-FN), St. Albert’s College, organized a Refresher and Skill Development Workshop on Scuba Diving in collaboration with Aqua Leo, Kochi. The programme was held on Wednesday, 8th August 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bernard Hall. The session commenced with a silent prayer, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Viji C S, Assistant Professor, RDFA-SF-FN. Mr. Joseph Deleesh, Manager at Aqua Leo, introduced the fundamentals and significance of SCUBA diving. This was followed by an engaging audio-visual presentation led by Mr. Sorenson, Instructor, and Ms. Athulya, Dive Master from Aqua Leo. The session covered the practical aspects of SCUBA diving, including a detailed demonstration of diving equipment. Ms. Athulya showcased various SCUBA gear and explained the techniques and safety procedures involved in handling each item. Additionally, the course structure, importance, and career scope of SCUBA diving were outlined during the session. The programme also featured an interactive discussion segment, where students actively participated and clarified their doubts. The faculty coordinators for the event were Dr. Viji C S and Mr. Sayeed Muhammed. A total of 30 students participated in the programme. The event concluded at 11:00 AM with feedback from the participants, who expressed appreciation for the informative and hands-on experience.
