‘SCIENTIFIC POSTER MAKING COMPETITION’ ON NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2025

The Research Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture organized a ‘Scientific poster making competition’ in connection with National Science Day celebration 2025 at Biochemistry Lab from 11.00am to 1.00 pm. The competition aimed to encourage students to creatively express the theme of ‘Impact of science in everyday life’ through visual representation. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students across various academic streams. The primary objectives of the competition were: To promote scientific awareness and creativity among students,To highlight the significance of science in everyday life,To encourage interdisciplinary participation and knowledge sharing,To provide a platform for students to showcase their artistic and scientific understanding. Theme of Competition: ‘IMPACT OF SCIENCE IN EVERYDAY LIFE’ A total of 17 students participated in the competition, representing various streams from BA Economics, B.Sc. Aquaculture, B.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Chemistry, B.Sc. Industrial Fisheries B.Sc. Botany, B.Sc. Maths and MSc Applied Fisheries and Aquaculture. The posters showcased various aspects of science in daily life, including healthcare advancements, environmental conservation, space exploration, digital technology, and sustainable living. The posters were evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges comprising Faculty member’s Dr. Deepthi, Assistant COE & HOD, Department of Zoology (SF) and Dr. Anjana, Assistant Professor in Physics. The judging criteria included: Relevance to Theme, Scientific Accuracy, Creativity & Innovation, Visual Appeal & Clarity, and Overall Presentation & Impact. The event commenced with an inaugural speech by Dr Bijoy V M, HOD, Research Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture emphasizing the role of science in shaping modern society. Participants presented their posters with brief oral explanations to the judges and audience .The top two winners were awarded cash prizes of about Rs.1000 and Rs.500, while all participants received a small gift as a token of appreciation. Selected posters were displayed at the notice board. The Poster Making Competition on ‘Impact of Science in Everyday Life’ successfully engaged students in scientific discourse through art. The event fostered creativity, knowledge-sharing, and a deeper appreciation for the role of science in everyday activities. The competition concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Vibin M, Assistant Professor in Biochemistry, Faculty Coordinator/Convenor expressing gratitude to the participants, judges, and organizing team.
