The Department of Social Work, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, in association with the Cochin Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), has conducted the Valedictory function of the ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ Campaign on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The event was held at Mellano Hall at 11:30 AM and was aimed at acknowledging the collective efforts undertaken to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility within the community. This initiative was also supported by c-hed (Centre for Heritage, Environment and Development), and aligned with the broader vision of sustainable civic practices. The session commenced with a Welcome Address by Mr. Joshi Varghese, Pranayikhabhoomiye Coordinator and he extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and participants of the campaign. The Presidential Address was delivered by Mr. V. A. Sreejith, Chairman, Education-Sports Standing Committee who highlighted the significance of student involvement in nation-building activities like Swachhta Abhiyan. The event was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Antony Thoppil, Director of St. Albert’s College. This was followed by a Felicitation Address by Mr. T. K. Ashraf, Health Standing Committee Chairman, Cochin Corporation, who appreciated the collaborative spirit shown by the college and the student body. Later, there was certificate distribution to the students who have won in the competitions which conducted during the campaign. The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Jeni Johnson, Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of MSW Department. She expressed her gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty, students, and partners who made the campaign a grand success. The ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ closing ceremony was a reflection of the power of collective action and inter-agency collaboration, highlighting the role of educational institutions in driving social change.
