On 3rd February 2025, the Department of Social Work conducted an International Conference on "Building Resilience; Strategies for Mental Health Advocacy in Social Work", as part of Albertian Knowledge Submit. The program started by 10:00 am with a prayer song by Ms. Parvathy Renjan, the welcome speech was given by Ms. Sneha Pillai (head of B.voc medical and psychiatric social work), the presidential address was given by Rev. Fr. Dr. Antony Thoppil (the chairman and manager of St. Alberts college). The felicitation was given by Dr. Joseph Justin Rebello (the Principal of St. Alberts College) and Inaugural address was given by the chief guest Mr. Jithin Abraham, consultant psychologist and founder of Aidantly Hub of Happiness and Solutions. As part of inaugural ceremony the Chief guest and all the dignitaries lightened the lamp. And the inaugural session was concluded by vote of thanks from Ms. Kripa Maria (Assistant Professor, B. Voc MPSW Programme). The first workshop session was started at 11.30 am by Mr. Jithin Abraham. And topic was "The Role of Mindfulness-Based Interventions in Enhancing Resilience Among Social Workers and Their Clients". It aimed to provide insights into how mindfulness techniques can help social workers manage stress, prevent burnout, and improve the well-being of their clients. The session was highly interactive and informative, offering practical strategies for integrating mindfulness into professional and personal life. And the session ended with a wonderful mind therapy. The workshop concluded with a Q&A session, where Mr. Abraham addressed participants' questions, offering deeper clarity on implementing mindfulness techniques effectively in professional and personal contexts. Following this, Mr. Abraham Jewel delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the speaker and organizers. Finally, as a token of appreciation, Ms. Roal Roy presented a memento to Mr. Jithin Abraham for his valuable insights and contributions to the field of mental health. The afternoon session was started at 2.00pm by welcoming Ms. Suzanne Fox, with a welcome speech by Ms. Roal Roy. The topic of the workshop was "Planting Hope: One Yellow Tulip Bulb at a Time innovative strength based approaches to addressing mental health, spreading hope and reducing stigma through gardens, storytelling and the arts". The session explored the power of nature, storytelling, and the arts in fostering resilience and emotional well-being Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, participants learned how creative and nature-based interventions can be used to promote mental health awareness. A Q&A session followed, where participants engaged in insightful discussions with Ms. Fox. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Jeni Johnson, appreciating the speaker's valuable insights.
