The Department of Social Work organized a one-day academic workshop on Project Proposal Writing on 25th September 2024 in the Second Year Classroom. The event aimed to strengthen the students' understanding and skills in drafting effective project proposals, which are vital in both academic and professional social work contexts. The session was coordinated by Ms. Jeni Johnson (Staff Coordinator) and Mr. Vigil Raj (Student Coordinator). The resource person for the workshop was Ms. Rajeemol T R, a Research Scholar from the Department of Social Work, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous). She brought her expertise in research and community-based interventions to deliver a comprehensive and practical session. The workshop began at 10:00 AM with a warm welcome and introduction, followed by an in-depth session led by Ms. Rajeemol. She covered essential components of a project proposal including the introduction, problem statement, objectives, methodology, work plan, budgeting, and evaluation. Participants engaged in group activities to draft mock proposals and presented their work, which was constructively reviewed. The workshop saw active participation from 56 students and 7 staff members. There were no participants from outside the college. Students found the workshop insightful, with many expressing that it helped clarify the technical and strategic aspects of proposal writing. The interactive nature of the workshop and the real-life examples shared by the resource person enriched the learning experience. In conclusion, the workshop successfully met its objectives and was appreciated by all attendees. It added practical value to the academic training of social work students and encouraged them to approach proposal writing with greater confidence and clarity. The department extends sincere thanks to Ms. Rajeemol T R for her valuable input and to everyone who contributed to the success of the program.
