The Departmentof Chemistry conducted the inauguration of the Chemistry Association and a Teachers' Day celebration on 5th September, 2024 at 11:30 am in Pappali Hall. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Ushamani, Dean of Research, St. Teresa's College, Ernakulam. Our college Principal, Dr. Justin Rebello, was also present. The program began with a prayer led by Thameeza, final year BSc Chemistry student. Dr. Vijay John Gerson, Head of the Chemistry Department, welcomed the attendees and spoke about the importance of an active association for organizing various departmental programs and extracurricular activities. Following this, the principal addressed the gathering, congratulated the department on its active participation in college events and congratulated the teachers for their continuous support in enhancing the college's functioning. Dr. Ushamani then addressed the students, sharing her insights on the significance of having a chemistry association and the relevance of interdisciplinary research. She encouraged students to pursue interdisciplinary projects in their final year, collaborating with other departments such as Physics, Botany, and Zoology. The program was officially inaugurated with the lighting of a lamp, followed by the introduction of the association's office bearers for the academic year 2024-25. 1. President - Riya Mary (I MSc) 2. II PG Representative - Santy Sebastian Following this, the Teachers' Day celebration was coordinated by II PG students, who presented roses to all teachers and guests. The chief guest and the Principal were honored with ‘Ponnada’. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Joseph Prince D.
