The Department of English hosted a workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Smarter Education on July 30, 2025. The workshop was co-ordinated by Dr. Liz Mary Antony and Ms. Jomol. The event was held for (UG) students to introduce them to the potential of AI as a tool for academic and personal growth. Mr. Joshua Varghese Thomji was the resource person for the workshop. The workshop commenced at 11:30 AM with a welcome address from Prathewsh L (Student Co-ordinator), who highlighted the growing importance of AI in various fields, including education. Mr. Thomji's session was both informative and interactive. He began by demystifying AI, explaining its core concepts in an accessible way for the students. He then demonstrated how AI tools can be used for: * Effective Research * Enhanced Writing and Editing * Personalized Learning He discussed how AI can help create personalized study plans and provide instant feedback on practice questions, allowing students to learn at their own pace. The interactive Q&A session at the end was particularly engaging. Students raised questions about the ethical implications of using AI, the risk of plagiarism, and the future of AI in the job market. Mr. Thomji addressed these concerns thoughtfully, promoting a balanced and responsible approach to using technology. The workshop concluded at 1:15 PM with a vote of thanks from a student representative. The event was a success, leaving the students with a clearer understanding of how to leverage AI to enhance their learning experience while also being mindful of its limitations and ethical considerations.
