The Department of English, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, organized the Dr. A. V. Vijayan Memorial Lecture on 12 September 2025 at Mellano Hall. The theme of the lecture was “The Poetry of Ruins: The Wasteland and Contemporary Global Conflicts.” The program commenced at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer led by Ms. Anagha and Ms. Apsara of II BA English. Dr. Nisha Thomji Varghese, Head of the Department of English, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. Dr. Retina Cleetus delivered the Vice Principal’s address highlighting the significance of the memorial lecture in enriching academic discourse. Rev. Fr. Jenson Livera handed over a memto to the chief guest. This was followed by a video presentation reflecting the life and contributions of Dr. A. V. Vijayan. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Laly Mathew, Principal of Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Sciences, Kakkanad. In her address, Dr. Mathew provided insightful perspectives on the theme “The Poetry of Ruins: The Wasteland and Contemporary Global Conflicts”, drawing connections between T. S. Eliot’s work and current global issues.The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Anuvindha Shaji, Head-in-Charge of the Department of English. View Poster View Brochure
