Report of the Activity Purpose and Outcome: The Department of Travel and Tourism at St. Albert's College (Autonomous) organized a Soft Skill Development Programme on August 30th, 2024. The session was conducted by Ms. Jayanthy Krishnachandran, a National Trainer with JCI India, known for her expertise in soft skills training. The programme aimed at enhancing the interpersonal and professional skills of the students to better prepare them for their future careers. The primary goal of the session was to provide students with essential soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving, which are crucial for their overall personal and professional development, especially in the travel and tourism industry. Introduction and Ice-Breaking: Ms. Jayanthy began the session with a brief introduction about herself and the importance of soft skills in the modern workforce. She conducted an engaging ice-breaking activity to make the students comfortable and receptive. Soft Skills Framework: The trainer provided an overview of key soft skills, focusing on: Effective Communication Time Management Emotional Intelligence Leadership and Teamwork Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Through practical examples and scenarios, students were made aware of how these skills can be applied in real-world situations, especially in customer-facing roles. Interactive Activities: Group discussions and role-playing activities were organized to help students practice communication and teamwork skills. The participants were divided into teams and given various scenarios to work through, fostering collaboration and critical thinking. Towards the end of the programme, the students were given an opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts. Ms. Jayanthy provided personalized feedback to the participants, offering valuable insights into how they could improve their skills further. Ms. Jayanthy concluded the session by encouraging students to continuously work on their soft skills and highlighted their importance in achieving long-term success in both professional and personal life. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks delivered by Ashna T L, the Student Coordinator, expressing gratitude to the speaker, faculty, and participants.
