DR. P.A NELSON MEMORIAL ALL KERALA SCIENCE QUIZ COMPETITION FOR HIGHER SECONDARY STUDENTS

The Department of Chemistry and Research Centre successfully organized an All Kerala Science Quiz Competition for Higher Secondary students on 20th November 2024, commemorating the memory of Dr. P. A. Nelson, a distinguished educator and academician. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 50 teams across the state. The preliminary round, a written test, commenced at 9:30 AM. Based on the scores, the top five teams advanced to the final round, which was held at 11:30 AM. The selected finalists were: • Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda • Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara • Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School, Kakkanad • St. Antony's School, Kacheripady • Govt. Higher Secondary School, Aluva Dr. Nisha V. S., Assistant Professor, introduced the quiz master Mr. Hari Myparambil, who conducted an engaging and intellectually stimulating quiz consisting of five rounds. The format and content of the final round were well appreciated by both participants and the audience. The winners of the competition were: • First Place: Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara • Second Place: Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda • Third Place: Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School, Kakkanad The valedictory function took place at 2:30 PM in Mellano Hall. • Dr. Vijay John Gerson, Head of the Department, delivered the welcome address. • The function was presided over by Rev. Dr. Antony Thoppil, Chairman of St. Albert’s College, who also distributed the prizes. • Dr. Joseph Justin Rebello, Principal, delivered the keynote address, and Prof. K. J. Benny presented the commemorative talk. • The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the coordinator Dr. Krishnakumar K. S. All participating teams received mementoes and certificates in recognition of their efforts and enthusiasm.
