DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE SF (FN) INTERNATIONAL ANTI-DRUG DAY OBSERVATION REPORT As part of the International Anti-drug Day, the Commerce department SF (FN) of St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam, organized an observance of International Anti-Drug Day on 26th June 2025. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among students and faculty. The program commenced at 9:00 AM with a pledge-taking ceremony, where participants committed themselves to uphold a life free from substance abuse. This was followed by a group discussion session, where students shared insights and perspectives on the psychological, social, and health-related impacts of drugs in society. A presentation prepared by the students highlighted alarming statistics and real-life stories, fostering empathy and critical thinking. As a key element of the observance, participants also viewed the ‘BODHA POORNIMA’ live-streamed address by Smt. R. Bindu, Hon. Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, Government of Kerala. Her powerful message emphasized the role of education in prevention and rehabilitation, and her speech inspired the audience to become ambassadors of change within their communities. The session concluded at 10:00 AM with a collective reflection on the discussions, reinforcing the importance of awareness and responsibility in combating drug abuse. The event was successful in engaging participants meaningfully and encouraging them to take an active stance against drug use, aligning with the core objectives of International Anti-Drug Day. List of activities discussed: 1. Drama showcasing the destroyed life of youth who have been addicted to drugs. 2. Competitions- Skit, Elocution, Mime, Badge designing, Painting, Essay writing against drugs. 3. Cycle rally. 4. Friendly football match. 5. Exhibition of short films and documentaries. 6. Awareness classes. 7. Visit de-addiction centre. 8. Organise counselling classes. 9. Formation of Aazad sena (Anti-drug club) in association with Excise department. 10. Marathon 11. Provide notices to children. 12. Flash mob. 13. Prepare wall paintings.
