The Department of English, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), organized an expert lecture titled The Enigma of Hamlet: Prince, Poetry, Play and Problem on 15th October 2024. The session aimed to delve into the complexities of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, exploring its themes, character intricacies, poetic depth, and the myriad interpretations that have emerged over centuries. The resource person for the event was Prof. Josy Joseph, an esteemed academic from St. Berchmans College, Changanacherry. Known for his expertise in Shakespearean studies, Prof. Joseph brought fresh insights into the timeless relevance of Hamlet, captivating the audience with his eloquent presentation and deep understanding of the subject. Dr Sweetha Saji, Assistant Professor, Department of English St Albert’s College Autonomous, who was also a former student of the resource person delivered welcome address. The talk was well-received by the attendees, who found it both intellectually stimulating and inspiring. Participants appreciated the resource person’s ability to make Shakespeare’s Hamlet accessible and relevant to a diverse audience. The event provided an enriching experience, deepening the participants' understanding of one of literature's greatest works. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Naomi Shosha Yacoob, the student coordinator.
