The English Department of St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam organized an Expert talk in association with the National Reading Day on 20th June 2024. A Reading Club by the name kandal was also inaugurated the same day. The event was organized at the Daniel Hall, AIM at 11 am. The faculty coordinators of the programme were Ms. Nikita John and Dr. Sweetha Saji and the student coordinators were Ms. Riya Mariam Binu and Mr. Adithyan P A. The welcome speech was by Ann Mariya of II MA. Ms. Devika V, Asst. Professor in the PG Dept. of English introduced the Reading Club and revealed its name - kandal. Dr. Nithya Mariam John, who is a lecturer, writer, and a poet, introduced various books across genres and interacted with students on diverse topics ranging from developing writing as a habit and the nature of creativity. After the Expert Talk, Fathima Shifana (II MA English), Serena David (II MA English), Ann Bertha (III BA English), and Drishya Dileep (II BA English) presented their poetic interpretations and reading experience.
